First team: Castle Donnington vs Ollerton

Ollerton travelled away to Castle Donnington hoping to record their first win of the season.
The game started evenly with neither side gaining an advantage before Castle Donnington's No8 took a hand with a fine break through the centre which was converted 7-0
Ollerton tightened up in defence only to give away a penalty on the 10 minute mark which was again converted. 10-0
Ollerton's reply came ten minutes later when the ball was shipped wide for veteran winger Eric Cranmer to round his man to score in the corner, not converted 10-5
Ollerton's hopes of a win were again lifted as seasoned winger Steve Hallam made a fine solo break down the right wing and the ball was knocked back by the Castle Donnington defence only to find fly half Chris Ford on hand to ground the loose ball, again not converted 10-10.
Castle Donnington's reply was immediate with their captain Paul Watson crashing through the centre. Try converted, half time score 17-10
Ollerton got off to a bad start in the second half, conceding a penalty and another try from the Castle Donnington captain, 49 minutes gone 27-10
A very scrappy next ten minutes saw the Ollerton Hooker sin binned and Castle Donnington increase their lead with a further two tries and a penalty which were answered by Ollerton winger Cranmer's second try of the day. 42-17
Ollerton finished the day with a catch and drive at the lineout resulting in second row Mark Staley being driven over for a fine try.

Final Score 21-19

The first fifteen minutes of the game found both teams deadlocked until Veteran forward Jeff Raine broke free following a quick tap penalty, dummied his man and crashed over for a fine individual effort.
The game remained evenly balanced until the last ten minutes of the first half when Ollerton won a Mellish lineout and second row,Gordon Leonard broke free dummying three players before passing to centre Stuart Godfrey who raced on from the half way line beating three Mellish players on the way to score a superb well deserved try, converted 0-14 at half time.

Mellish re-grouped and cut the deficit with a fine forwards try, converted 7-14
Ollerton increased their lead again on the hour with both wingers, Nathan and Layton Kirk combining well for Layton Kirk to put his brother Nathan through for a well worked try, converted 7-21
The last twenty minutes saw some good Ollerton defending but they were unable to keep Mellish out who closed the gap yet again with a further two tries and one convertion bringing the final score to 19-21 in Ollerton's favour.
