First team:
OLLERTON v SLEAFORD 7-43
Sleaford started this game well, playing with the strong wind and applying forward pressure right from the start which was rewarded within ten minutes when they scored a fine wingers try out wide, not converted 0-5 This was added to five minutes later with a long wind assisted penalty. Within ten minutes Ollerton had points on the board with a classic kick and chase by centre Chris Ford who snatched the ball out of the air to score unopposed under the posts, converted 7-8. Sleaford then applied the pressure with Ollerton pinned in their own 22 by a combination of good forward play and a strong head wind. The away team were rewarded, minutes before the break with their centre scoring under the posts, converted 7-15 and managed a penalty in the dying seconds to bring the half time score to 7-18.
The second half started in much the same way as Sleaford slotted yet another penalty within five minutes of the restart 7-21. Ollerton seemed to tighten things up until an opportunist interception gifted Sleaford another try in the corner, not converted 7-26. Ollerton made the game even harder for themselves near the hour mark as they allowed a few refereeing decisions that didn't go their way to effect their play, resulting in one key player being sin binned and another receiving a red card. Sleaford took full advantage of this within a few minutes, scoring another try, converted 7-33. Unlike Boxing Day, Ryan Bartles was instrumental in clearing the Ollerton lines again and again with some excellent kicking until Sleaford scored a further two tries in the last 10 minutes bringing the final score to 7-43.
