Match Report: 4th December 2004

First team: BUXTON 22 OLLERTON 0
Ollerton travelled to Buxton for this NLD/North Leics League Fixture.  The conditions under foot were very boggy and Buxton played to this.  Buxton started well, catching Ollerton cold after a long bus journey with their No8 scoring from a blind side move. The rest of the first half was stale mate until just before the break.  Buxton's'  Fly Half scored in the corner after some fine handling. 10 - 0 half time. In the second half Ollerton threw everything at Buxton and were unlucky not to score on several occasions, with Full back Sean Cogan and both Props Wayne Kirk and John Woofe all coming close. Due to the bad pitch conditions Ollerton lost two key players to injury. Buxton surged forward in the last ten minutes to score two late tries out wide, one converted. Coming off the back of two good wins Ollerton will take the positives from this game and look forward to their Dronfield clash next week.
Second Team:
Third Team: BUXTON 5 OLLERTON 7
Despite the poor conditions this was a classic encounter. James Hooper opened the scoring for Ollerton converted by Luke Dymyd. Buxton replied immediately through Winger Adamson. Ollerton maintained the pressure through some excellent tactical kicking from veteran Fly Half Keith Ryan who was also named Man of the Match. There were lots of positives from this very difficult game. The Buxton side were very big and Ollerton put in an excellent defensive game putting in lots of tackles and discipline was excellent with the referee left alone to do his own job. This was a super result for Ollerton who played the second half with only thirteen men again due to injury caused by the bad pitch conditions.
