Match Report: 22nd January 2005

First team: OLLERTON 0 - ANSTEY 36
Ollerton played hosts to Anstey in this NLD/Leics Fixture. Ollerton started the better even though constant pressure and three penalty attempts failed to produce any points. Anstey's first try was against the run of play with an interception try out wide. It was close for the next 20 minutes and just before half time Anstey's forwards took control and produced two fine tries. One converted leaving the score 17 - 0 at half time.
Ollerton started the second half strong again but Anstey's strength and organisation shone through and they scored a further three tries plus two conversions. This was a good game all round with both teams showing resilience right up to the final whistle.
Second Team:  ASHFIELD 2 25 - OLLERTON 29
Ollerton 2nds travelled to Ashfield 2nds and won 29 - 25 in this tight forward game. Ashfield started the stronger making Ollerton defend for the first twenty minutes. Ollerton weathered this storm and from winning a line out hat trick hero Mick Farn scored his first try in the corner. Ashfield replied to this with a typical scrum-half try. Thirty minutes into the game there was four quick tries scored, two from Ashfield's three quarters, one from Ollerton's 2nd Row Farn, and Fly-Half Stuart Godfrey plus one conversion from Godfrey. 17 - 15 at the break.
The second half was much the same, nip and tuck all the way, although Ollerton had the edge. Godfrey went over for his brace of tries and man of the match Mick Farn crashing over for his third. Ashfield scored a consolation try in the dying minutes but this was not enough for this local derby.
Third Team: Postponed
