Third Team: Ollerton vs Newark 4ths
Final score 5-45
Ollerton travelled away to Newark with a depleted side of thirteen due to squad injuries elsewhere in the club.
They were given two players by Newark which made for a much tighter game than anticipated. Within ten minutes of the kick off both sides had points on the board with Newark scoring first followed by an immediate reply by Ollerton scrum half Dave Price, not converted 5-5.
The game remained very tight but Newark took the advantage with two breakaway tries in the first half.
Half Time 5-19
The second half saw Ollerton camped in Newarks 22 for long periods but some good home side defending kept their defensive line intact.
Ollerton were unlucky with 15 mins to go when centre Simon Hayward broke clear only for the final pass to be deemed forward, just five metres out. Newark went on to score further tries late on, bringing the final score to 5-45 which did not reflect how tight this game had been.
