Match Report: 11th December 2004

First team:  OLLERTON 15 DRONFIELD 5
Ollerton played hosts to Dronfield in this NLD/Leics League clash. Dronfield started the stronger, pinning Ollerton in their own half for the first 20 minutes with credit going to Ollerton for holding them out with good tackling from Wayne Kirk and Allan Black. Ollerton's break came from their forwards who recycled quick ball allowing their backs to run. Centre Martin Burton and 2nd Row Darren Wilford both coming close to scoring. This pressure resulted in a penalty converted by man of the match Steve Hallam.

Half time score 3-0 to Ollerton.

Wilf in lineout action as Clayton waits in anticipation

Again Dronfield started the better in the second half and were rewarded with an excellent forward try from 2nd Row Gary Fox. This sparked Ollerton into action who started to dominate up front. A ball taken against the head from Hooker Nick Pearce allowed the backs to spin the ball finding Winger Eric Cranmer who beat his man to score in the corner. Ollerton's No8 Mark Laughton also came close to scoring but was tackled on the line. With five minutes to go a fine move from father Fred Ford putting his son Chris Ford in for the final try under the posts, converted by Hallam. This was a fine result for Ollerton who move out of the relegation zone in their new league. Ollerton hope to gain another 2 points next week in their away fixture at Boots.

Second Team: The second team struggled away at a strong Derby Development team and eventually lost 87-0 finishing the game with only 12 men.
