Ollerton Rugby Club kicked off their 25 year celebrations with their annual awards evening at the Hostess Restaurant. 120 members and guests enjoyed a super evening of fine food and good fun.
Chairman Keith Ryan thanked all the club sponsors for their support over the past season and in particular the Lime Tree Pantry, The Tyre Shop and The Plough Inn, Ollerton.
He paid tribute to all the young players who have had such a positive impact on the club and looked forward to them forming the nucleus of an emerging youth development squad. He reminded all those present to keep up the good work of attracting young players to the club and extended an invitation for all prospective new players to attend the first closed season training session at the Boughton Village Hall ground on Saturday the 4th June at 3 pm.

- A special award was made for one of the club’s unsung heroes. Chris Fay has tended our grounds with great care for virtually all of the years we have used the village hall pitch and has, sadly, decided to retire this season. Ollerton has a reputation for having one of the best presented grounds in the area and this is in no small measure due to the care and attention that Chris put into his
role. He will be greatly missed.
Our three captains and our President presented bouquets to our special lady guests for the evening, Mrs Forth, Mrs Price, Mrs McGinley and Mrs Thom in recognition of all their support and endurance sometimes beyond the call of duty.
Prior to the awards evening Jo Hayward was presented with a bouquet of
flowers on the last home game of the league season by Steve Porsze for
all her hard work both on match days and training evenings trying to
patch players back together.
The formal proceedings were completed when everyone raised a toast to ‘Our Absent Friends’.
