This was always going to be a tough game for Ollerton with the disapointment of the league game being cancelled and taking on a strong Newark side. Newark were strong off the blocks and their well drilled side proved too strong for Ollerton scoring 4 tries to 1 in the first half. Ollertons try came from good forward play and 2nd row Darren Wilford did all the hard work then offloaded to Ollertons man of the match Eric Cranmer who dived over in the corner. Newark converted 3 tries making it 26-5 at the break.
The second half was much the same with superior Newark outscoring Ollerton 5 tries to 1 Ollertons try was the most popular of the day with Ollerton running it from their own try line Fly half Rian Bartle and Winger Russel Coleman made 80 metres then released Winger Cranmer who out paced the defence to go over for his second. The first try went to Keyworth in an open first half with both sides having good position in the opponents half. Two conversions by centre Martin Burton made the score 19-3 at half time to Ollerton.

Ollerton became slightly complacent in the second half letting Dronfield get some possession in their 22 which resulted in their scrum half touching down under the posts. OLLERTON 31 SOUTHWELL 2ND'S 17

Ollerton entertained local rivals Southwell seconds in a friendly fixture. Ollerton had several experienced players missing which allowed their younger players a chance to shine. Southwell started the stronger with their quick backs finding an opening allowing their centre to score an unconverted try. This was the wake up call that Ollerton needed and they took control of the game. Ollerton's forwards dominated the scrum and in the line outs which allowed their backs to do the damage with Winger L Kirk and centre S Haywood scoring out wide. Fly half K cogan converted. Ollerton will take the positives from this game and use it in their league game next week away at Cleethorpes.

Ollerton Seconds travelled to Ripley in Derbyshire for their pennant fixture against Ripley firsts and fell 10-5. This was the first time since the 01-02 season that the teams have met each other.

The game was a hard fought fixture with both packs flexing their muscles. This led to a clever kick out wide for Winger Russell Coleman to latch onto and score. Shortly after Ripley responded by kicking a long penalty to make the score 5-3 at half time.

The game continued in the same vain in the second half with both teams matching each other determination. Excellent defence from man of the match Centre Martin Burton as well as powerful running with the ball troubled Ripley’s backs. Some excellent tackling from Alan Black and Martin Hempsall kept Ollerton ahead in the game.
